Who is Our Congressman’s Real Constituents?
You may have missed some of these stories in the news. That’s because our local news hasn’t covered them. Several events recently have lead us to question who Eric Massa’s real constituents are.
December 19th Eric Massa was just getting out of Washington DC for Christmas break. He couldn’t break quite yet, because work was still on his mind. The Congressman had to continue his fight for Single Payer healthcare. Where was he doing this fight? Corning? Olean? Rochester? No, San Francisco, California. Well you know, because there are so many constituents there. While there he talked about picking up Ted Kennedy’s mantle with the government run healthcare debate.
January 4th our Congressman turned his focus on the Marcellus shale. Even though other states like Pennsylvania have developed reasonable safeguards and started developing this vital resource, Massa would prefer to stop this development. Where did this debate take place? New York City. No constituents there? You’re right.
Lastly, the infamous Netroots Nation. You’ve certainly seen the video where he talks about voting “against the interests of his district.” What you may not have asked yourself is where did this occur? It was held in Pittsburg, PA. He was speaking to people indicating how he resides in a “right-wing” district and he indicated he might need their help. Netroots Nation was a conference of progressive bloggers that represent the most extreme parts of the Democrat Party.
So, the question is if he insists on not representing our interests, if he insists on focusing so much of his most controversial talk for outside of his district, why is that? It’s because his views are not as popular here. He thinks you all want Government run healthcare. He thinks you want to stop Marcellus Shale drilling. He thinks you’ll let him continue voting without being concerned about what you think.
